Karl Kliem aka Dienststelle is known for minimalist music visualizations. He has worked together with Alva Noto & Ryuichi Sakamoto, Jan Jelinek, Mouse on Mars and others. He lives and works in Frankfurt am Main and teaches Media Design at art colleges.

The name “Dienststelle” stems from my friend Mathias Kohl, who tragically died in March 2015. He came up with the idea of founding the “Dienststelle Grundsatzentscheidung für Gestaltung”, a kind of ironic statement which would translate as “Servicepoint for Design Decision Guidelines”. This was back when we were studying at the HFG in Offenbach.
