Thomas Brinkmann - Geschlossene Kiste

I finally managed to record a short excerpt of the concert with Thomas Brinkmann at the Pradiso in Amsterdam in July.

The track “Geschlossene Kiste” is part of his release “Klick Revolution”. Thomas Brinkmann uses specially prepared vinyl records. At rather regular distances he scrapes small scratches into the locked grooves of old records which turn to rhythms when played back on the record player.

He usually carries a suitcase with lots of those records that are reduced to small squares, cutting away the unnecessary part, just keeping the last groove and the label.

For the visuals, it was obvious to make use of those labels.

Reduziert, auf die Musik abgestimmt und perfekte Bildqualität. Das schaffen m.E. nicht viele VJs.
